eeNoo Gin 70cl @ 43% ABV
From the old Scots tongue; eenoo – just now, at the present time, in a short time, at once.
When we crafted our gin, eeNoo, we wanted to create a flavour profile that encompassed the essence of a traditional gin whilst imparting the flavours of the Scottish Highlands.
eeNoo is distilled with Royal Deeside honey. The flavour profile of our honey is unique to the local area and is made up of heather, willow herb and clover pollen. To complement the honey we add heather flowers and other local botanicals. We forage a percentage of our brambleberries, raspberries and rosehip from the Deeside area and source the remainder from berry farms in Aberdeenshire and Angus. As Scottish juniper is in a critical state of decline, we source the finest juniper from the Italian highlands. We then add coriander seeds, angelica root, liquorice root, orange and lemon peel to give our gin a traditional but Scottish fruity taste.
Water from an ancient spring in the Cairngorms National Park is added to the mix. The water is some of the purest in the world and spends 50 years being gently filtered through layers of underground rocks and crevices before becoming part of our gin.
Nose: Sweet summer berries, think raspberry ice cream. Very little spirit hit. It is light, refreshing and enticing.
Taste: Smooth and refreshing. The raspberries are evident, as is the honey. It gives a real sweet edge to the gin but is balanced perfectly with the juniper and orange peel which come through quite quickly. It is a superb sipping gin. Clean, fresh and not spirituous at all. Add some tonic and fresh Raspberries for a real Summer Explosion. I personally recommend Lamb and Watt Original Tonic.
Lost Loch Spirits
You will find Lost Loch Spirits nestled between forest and farmland in Royal Deeside on the edge of the Cairngorm National Park. Narrowing it down slightly, we are on the historic eastern shore of the ‘lost’ Loch Auchlossan situated within Deeside Activity Park which also forms part of Cairnton Farm known for its award-winning herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle.
Lost Loch Spirits was started by Peter Dignan and Richard Pierce in 2017. With a passion for history as well as alcohol, Pete and Rich were proud to be a part of a legal, modern-day resurgence of craft distilling on Royal Deeside.
Lost Loch Spirits utilise a modern, 500 litre iStill and a smaller, traditional copper alembic still. With the current setup the distillery is capable of outputting 80,000 bottles per year. The distillery is self-sufficient with distilling, bottling and packaging taking place on site. A percentage of the power and heat utilised at the distillery comes from renewable sources as the site is fitted with a wind turbine, a solar panel array and a biomass boiler.
We are proud to be a house of brands and believe that each of our products should have its own story to tell and its own space to tell it. Our ethos is to be inventive in our thinking, to look at history for inspiration and to produce a range of unique spirits that have local provenance and an international appeal.
