Only making its way of the Hebridean island in March 2017, this juniper led spirit showcases some of the islands botanicals such as angelica root, calamus root, coriander, liquorice, orange peel and orris. The bottle itself pays homage to Colonsay's Celtic folklore and Viking past with ALVA dominating the eyecatching label, she is a very special Brownie, Celtic tales tell of how there was a Brownie in every household to help with chores and suchlike. Her Viking boat crashed into the rocks of Colonsay long long ago where she still remains using all her powers to protect her secret recipes from those desperate to know. With an alchemist’s touch she transforms humble botanicals into gin.
Tasting Notes – Smooth and slightly sweet, as if kissed by the maiden herself, strong juniper notes then transport you to a pine-fresh walk through the magnifcent woodlands of Colonsay House, before the flavour develops into a delicate balance of spice, peppery notes and lemon sherbet; the latter lingering, as clean and refreshing as a dip in the clear blue waters of Kiloran Bay.
